I chose the poem I too sing America because It was written in a very interesting and unique way. This poem  had a low diction that fit the tone and time period. The one word lines give a completely different feel ti this poem, Langston Hughes knew what he was doing when he composed this masterpiece.

I could also relate to what the poem is saying and how the narrator was being treated like a second class citizen. It was also great when the poem switched from being treated bad to when he knew there would be a day when he was equal and this poem describes a perfect sense of hope.

Another reason I chose this poem is because it was short and hence easy to remember. I would rather perform and easy poem well than embarrass myself when trying to do a poem out of my reach. Furthermore I have horrible memory and you probably get the point.

I liked "Insomnia" and "discrimination" because they felt real.
I didn't like "Women" because it confused me.
