My favorite and most memorable assignment this year is most likely the rap that Paul, Sean, and I made or The Tickler infomercial. It was really memorable because I had always wanted to do a rap and it really stood out. One of my favorite parts of it was going around town filming it. I think the video added a lot to the rap and it was just cool to actually make a hip hop production.
One other assignment that also was extremely fun to make and personally was just as good as the rap if not better was "the Tickler the whole idea of the video was all mine and filming it with Paul and Dan was a blast. Of all the projects I personally think this one was genius and the best in the class even though it probably wasn't as funny to other people who enjoyed the pleasure of seeing me embarrass myself on you tube.

A good experience with poetry
I have had only a few poetry experiences prior to this year. The main connection I have with poetry is through all the rap that I listen to and the artist's way of rhyming to a beat. Another experience I have had with poetry is when I was elementary school I would read Shell shilverstein books before bed.The final experience with poetry I have had is Dr. Seuss and his books Green Eggs and Ham was the first book I ever read.
where i see poetry most in my life is definitively through my iPod. i think some of the best poems are definitively in my collection of hip-hop music. I have had a number of great experiences through music/poetry in my iPod but one that stands out is when i was listening to an Atmosphere song and I could really relate to what he was saying and it brought out some emotion, that to me is what poetry is about.
In elementary school i distinctly remember reading Shell Shilverstein books for hours and the poems sometimes made me laugh and other times I was spooked by the creepy illustrations. I distinctly remember the book The Edge of the World and a poem about a king who only ate peanut butter sandwiches. Also I remember the illustrations very well and how all of them were the same style. Another poem that i distinctly remember is one about the kid who is making excuses not to go to school then finds out it is actually Saturday and is all better.
I also remember that the first book I ever read was Green Eggs and Ham that book was just plain silly. That book I remember had only fifty so words in it and used to crack me up. Also Dr Seuss wrote the book The Lorax which to this day is still fun to read and really had a deep message. I remember when I finally Got the message in the Lorax and it kinda hit me how sad it was, it definitively made me feel like i was growing up.
When I think of poetry for some reason i instantly think of a Haiku. on a deeper level though i also think of my music and usually wish I was listening to it than learning about poetry.

conflict blog
One of the most important conflicts is Romeo versus society. Romeo kills Tybalt in rage for killing Mercutio and is sentenced by the prince to be banished, "A gentler judgement vanish'd from his lips, not bodys death, but bodys banishment.". This conflict leads into Romeo not seeing Juliet and their downfall as lovers. furthermore this is important because this conflict defines the rest of the play after Romeos banished.
This conflict isn't necessarily present in my life but it is a conflict that is very common in society. You see a lot of cases where it seems its one man against society and/or an innocent man made guilty. The significance of this conflict is that it is a very powerful conflict, it is present in Martin Luther Kings whole life as he versed society and challenged people to change. people in general deal in conflict depending on who they are, one type like to plain avoid conflict and the other type likes to start/deal with conflict upfront.

connecting with romeo and juliet
I personally am connecting with the fact that romeo has a hard time getting over girls. I'm no stud but a girl can definitely have an effect on me, as in Romeo's case he almost has depression over a girl he barely knows. That may be a little too much but the same feelings are there.
The reading at home is personally hard to understand. The language and the way Shakespeare writes makes it hard to understand what is really going on. I personally use spark notes or cliff-notes after i read the chapter to understand what happened in easier to understand context. The annotations in class is helpful and makes it easier to understand the material.

Wrappping up Great Expectations
I think dickens was trying to show how material gains and wealth are not needed to have a happy life. Furthermore i think he was showing how its better to have a satisfying life than trying to achieve your dreams all your life and missing out on a true wholesome family. Overall the message to me was to not chase the unattainable.

picture blog

This photo represents how pip has always been on the same path after meeting Estella and now since she is getting married the path of the gentlemen has led him nowhere and now thinks about how he would of been better off at the honest old forge.

stage 2
in stage two of Great Expectations pip is now a gentlemen and has a completely different lifestyle. On top of that The pale young gentlemen from Miss Havishams is now Pips roommate and good friend. One major contrast between pip and herbert(the pale young gentlemen) is that herbert actually works for his money and pip just acquires it from Mr. Jaggers.

passage from "Great Expectations"
"Mr. Pumblechook's premises in the High Street of the market town,
were of a peppercorny and farinaceous character, as the premises of a
cornchandler and seedsman should be."(pg. 52 chapter 8)

I have no Idea what pepper-corny and farinaceous mean and how his occupation entitle hi to these traits?

group essay
1.my paragraph is almost the same as it was but my third CD and CM were completely different than before. My new concrete detail was about the humor aspect of Algernon wanting to change his name to earnest.
2.How do you think I could make my third CM better as I have yet to finish it.
2.How do you think I could make my third CM better as I have yet to finish it.
Body paragraph
Algernon and Cecily are almost as phony a couple as the sum of their parts. First off one of algernons Bunburys is how Algernon and Cecily first meet. "you young scoundrel Algy, you must get out of this place as soon as possible. I don't allow any Bunburying here." Algernon had lied that he is Ernest, Jacks troublesome brother. On top of that Algernon and Cecily had met on false pretenses. Cecily on the other hand lied to herself and and forged notes that of what Ernest would have wrote to her. " I was forced to write these letters for you. Cecily had now made herself a fantasy fiance. Last but not least Algernon wants to change his name to Ernest which is not an earnest thing to do. To sum up you can see that Algernon and Cecilys relationship is one big fantasy.

dishonesty in The importance of Being earnest
I think that it is showing how you have to lie in the pursuit of pleasure. also it shows that honesty is boring. The humorous part of lying is sarcasm or tricking someone completely. Like when Algernon came to jacks house since Jack lied about having a brother so much a complete stranger was able to pretend it was him. Also The silly thing about ernest was that the two guys who wanted to be
I think what Oscar Wildes is trying to say is that lying is an everyday thing. Each character told numerous lies some were bigger (like the fake brother) and some were little white lies. I think that he was also slightly tying to say that lying is the key to the pursuit of pleasure.
